Orthodontic Retainers Philadelphia
Dr. Kellyn Hodges describes types of retainers as offered at our Philadelphia offices. Retainers help keep the teeth in proper alignment. There are clear plastic aligners that fit over the teeth and retainers which utilize a metal wire and plastic part that fits within the arch.
Tina is going to demonstrate for us the insertion and removal of retainers.
The first is a lower Essix retainer. This is a clear retainer that holds
the teeth in three dimensions. This is a retainer that we most commonly in
use in our practice. It's very easy to insert and it's very easy to remove.
And remember to use both hands when removing it.
The other retainer type is a Hawley wrap-around. This appliance is also
very easy to insert, you can insert it using both hands placing the plastic
against the roof of your mouth first and then pushing the wire into place.
To remove it or member again to use both hands.
