Are Adult Braces Affordable? By Kellyn Hodges on August 07, 2020

wide open mouth with traditional metal braces on upper and lower teethWhen patients have various misalignment problems, overcrowding, gaps, and overbites, braces are one of the best solutions. Braces properly align the teeth for enhanced performance and appearance. Adult braces are affordable since there are several options available, including Invisalign®, traditional braces, retainers, Wilckodontics, and Fast Acting Adult Braces

At Kellyn Hodges Orthodontics, we work with our Philadelphia, PA, patients to develop a treatment plan to meet their goals and enhance their oral care. Dr. Kellyn Hodges strives to make sure that your options are budget-friendly, and will review all associated costs during your consultation.

Invisalign®

Invisalign treatment involves clear aligner trays that provide a discreet look. Since they have a more aesthetically pleasing appearance and take a shorter amount of time to straighten teeth, they might cost more than traditional braces. On average, Invisalign costs between $3,000 and $7,000 for our Bala Cynwyd patients.

The specific price depends on the condition of your teeth, how long you will wear the aligners, and how much your insurance will cover. The Invisalign website suggests talking to your dentist about monthly payment options, CareCredit® financing, or using your FSA or HSA accounts.

Traditional Braces

Traditional braces are metal braces, and more serious misalignment problems might require this option. Metal braces are usually the most affordable choice for many patients. These braces typically cost around $3,000 to $5,000.

The cost includes regular adjustments, which occur about every six weeks. Adjustments play a major factor in the price. If braces are deemed medically necessary, insurance carriers might cover most or all of the cost. In our Bensalem office, we can go over different options such as affordable monthly payment plans and various financing options.

Wilckodontics®

Wilckodontics is a transformative procedure that combines oral surgery and traditional braces to get adults in and out of braces quicker. In some cases, it takes between three and eight months. The cost is normally between $11,000 and $20,000.

According to the Wilckodontics website, patients might be able to qualify for the OFP financing program if their doctor has received Wilckodontics certification. Under this program, the price includes the surgery and braces in one payment. No down payment is required, and you might have up to 60 months to pay.

Fast Acting Adult Braces

Dentists often recommend Fast Acting Adult Braces for patients with minor cosmetic needs, namely the anterior teeth. Our dentist will combine traditional orthodontics like metal braces or Invisalign with cosmetic dentistry. Since the process is shorter and less extensive than other choices, the cost is usually around $4,000.

We can review payment options that allow the cost to be paid over a set period of time. In some cases, your insurance might cover all or a portion of the cost of the braces. CareCredit® might also be a viable option to make your braces more affordable.

Payment Plans

During your consultation, we can discuss all costs associated with any treatment option you choose. You will receive a breakdown of everything involved with your braces. At this time, we can go over your insurance coverage to determine how much your carrier will cover and your financial responsibility. Our team can also discuss monthly payment options to ensure your adult braces are more affordable.
