The Importance of Investing in Traditional Braces

Braces from one of our Philadelphia-area offices are an investment that many have found worthwhile due to:

Improved Oral Health

With straighter teeth, brushing and flossing become easier, which means you may face a lower risk of tooth decay and gum disease. If you suffer from overall bite misalignment, braces can reduce your risk of developing TMJ (temporomandibular joint) disorder. This makes it easier for you to maintain your oral health.

Cost Savings

In the long run, you could save a significant amount of money on restorative care thanks to the results braces can provide. Braces can also dramatically improve your appearance, with priceless benefits for your confidence and overall quality of life.

"It feels like you're coming to visit a relative."

Sophia first visited Kellyn Hodges Orthodontics for an opinion on how she could address flared teeth. Dr. Hodges and our Greater Philadelphia team have been treating Sophia with braces, and Sophia says she's loved the experience so far. Our friendly, welcoming staff aims to make every patient feel like family.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Some patients prefer to undergo Invisalign® instead of braces because it is a more discreet form of orthodontic treatment. However, braces can correct more severe tooth and bite misalignment issues than Invisalign. During a consultation, your orthodontist can determine which approach is best for your needs.

In terms of cost, Invisalign and braces are somewhat comparable. According to Oral-B, Invisalign typically costs between $4,000 and $7,400.

How to Calculate the Cost of Braces

Before placing your braces at our dental office in Bala Cynwyd, Bensalem, or Montgomeryville, your orthodontist will thoroughly review your dental health and alignment to design an effective, personalized treatment plan. Through this process, we can also provide an accurate estimate for the cost of your braces, considering:

Additional treatments available at our Philadelphia area offices are priced separately.

Treatment Length

In most cases, braces will stay on your teeth for 12 to 24 months. However, seriously misaligned teeth may require braces for a longer period. During this time, you will need to make routine visits to our office so that we can tighten the wire and observe your progress. Therefore, a longer treatment will result in higher costs.

Complexity of Treatment

If you have complex orthodontic issues, we may need to take preparatory measures to achieve your desired results. Advanced options like gentle extractions or a TAD (temporary anchorage device) will increase total costs.

Additional Treatments

You may require restorative treatment, such as a filling, before you can receive your braces. In other cases, you may want teeth whitening after your braces come off. These options are priced separately and available at each of our Philadelphia-area offices.
