Frequently Asked Questions

When should my child have an orthodontic evaluation?

The dental profession recommends that children be assessed for orthodontic intervention at seven years of age. This orthodontic evaluation will assess dental development and any problems with health, proper function or cosmetics of the teeth. In some cases, early detection is essential for your child’s healthy growth and development and lifelong aesthetics. The most common age for adolescent orthodontics is eleven years of age. The youngest patient in our practice is six years old!

What is Phase I Treatment?

Phase I treatment is early interceptive treatment usually done between the ages of seven and eleven years old. It is designed to correct certain skeletal growth disharmonies, and functional problems such as cross bites or severe over bites while the bone is still immature and soft. It is also necessary in restoring lost arch space and attempting to avoid extractions or surgery at a later time. It is necessary in many complex orthodontic cases for the smile to ultimately have the most ideal proportions and relationships.

Am I too old to have my teeth straightened?

You’re never too old to improve your smile! As a matter of fact, many in the profession are recommending that their patients expect to wear braces twice in a lifetime; once in adolescence and once again in middle age. Adult orthodontics is very common also to maintain long-term oral health. In addition to making the smile beautiful, orthodontics will improve conditions that would otherwise require periodontal care, stop or prevent undue wear and tear on teeth, and stabilize the teeth for better chewing, speaking and other Para-functional movements of the jaws. The oldest patient in our practice is eighty years old!

Can I afford braces?

In our office, the consultation is free of charge. We offer low monthly payment plans with no interest to cover the cost of braces, and we accept most insurances. It is our desire to make a beautiful smile affordable and accessible to as many as possible. Remember, the consultation is free! Come and see what we can do for you! We make braces surprisingly affordable!
