Dentures

Tooth loss affects every aspect of your daily life, making eating and speaking more difficult.

Dr. Kellyn Hodges and her team of world-class dentists can restore your missing teeth with custom dentures.

Here's how dentures from our Philadelphia, PA, practice can improve your self-image and quality of life.

Life-Changing Benefits  of a Well-made Denture

Enjoy Your Favorite Foods

Missing teeth can make mealtimes a challenge, causing you to limit your diet to soft foods. Dentures allow you to eat all your favorite foods once again and incorporate healthy variety back into your diet.

Look Younger

Unfortunately, tooth loss is one of the features we associate with old age. Tooth loss causes the cheeks and lips to look sunken and hollow, making you look older. Dentures fill out your facial structure, taking years off your appearance while giving you a healthy-looking smile.

Correct Speech Issues

A full set of teeth is needed to speak clearly and enunciate certain sounds. Your denture can help you speak with clarity, giving you the confidence to talk in meetings and catch up with old friends.

Boost Your Self-Confidence

You shouldn't have to go through life feeling embarrassed about your missing teeth. With our modern, natural-looking dentures, you can smile with confidence and feel like the best version of yourself.

Our Promise to Patients

When you visit Kellyn Hodges Orthodontics, you are more than just a patient—you're a partner in the process of creating your very best smile. Our teams in Bensalem, Montgomeryville, and Bala Cynwyd believe in providing service that goes the extra mile. You'll be treated with kindness, compassion, and respect throughout your time with us.

We offer various types of dentures at our practice in Philadelphia, PA. Find out which type is right for you...

Types of Dentures

traditional dentures

Traditional Full Dentures

Traditional full dentures are removable prosthetics designed to replace an entire arch of missing teeth. They contain a gum-colored base that rests on top of the gums and are held in place with a combination of suction and a dental adhesive. The plastic base supports a complete row of natural-looking prosthetic teeth that closely mimic the appearance of your natural teeth.

partial dentures

Traditional Partial Dentures

If you are missing teeth but still have some healthy natural teeth, you may benefit from a partial denture. In addition to the gum-colored base and prosthetic teeth, partial dentures have small metal clasps that fit securely around remaining natural teeth. Traditional full and partial dentures can generally be produced quickly and are a relatively affordable tooth replacement option.

implant-supported dentures

Implant-Supported Dentures

Implant-supported dentures provide several unique advantages, including improved stability for denture wearers. Instead of resting on top of the gums, the dentures are anchored by dental implants that are surgically placed in the jawbone. By replacing the missing tooth roots, dental implants stimulate your jawbone tissue, helping to keep your jawbone healthy and intact.

The best office for orthodontic care. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Hodges since 2008 (had to have braces twice) and never once had a negative experience. The staff is the most friendly group of people I have met in a healthcare facility. My kids will most definitely go to Dr. Hodges if and when they need an orthodontist!

Comparing Types of Dentures Which Option Is Right for You?

When it comes to dentures, there are a variety of options to choose from. However, what works best for one patient may not be right for another. There are several factors you must take into consideration when selecting your denture.

Type of Tooth Loss Budget Dental Health Overall Health

Traditional Full Denture

Missing all teeth.

Affordable on most budgets. Treatment is usually covered by insurance to some extent.

Can work for candidates with bone loss and gum recession. However, these conditions will likely worsen without treatment. Jawbone atrophy can also make it uncomfortable to wear a traditional denture, so preparatory treatment is recommended.

No health restrictions.

Traditional Partial Denture

Missing most teeth. Affordable on most budgets. Treatment is usually covered by insurance to some extent. Candidates should have good oral health other than tooth loss and one or more healthy remaining natural teeth. Partial dentures will not treat jawbone atrophy, which may cause further tooth loss or changes in facial shape. No health restrictions.

Implant-Supported Denture

Missing most or all teeth. Implant surgery will increase the overall treatment cost, so patients should budget accordingly. Implants are usually not covered by insurance. Good oral health and sufficient jawbone density are required. Patients can undergo bone grafting to restore their candidacy. Dental implants prevent future bone loss. Patients must be non-smokers, have controlled diabetes, and be healthy enough to undergo a surgical procedure.

Schedule a one-on-one consultation with our Philadelphia-area dentists to discuss your options and candidacy. We offer free consultations at our offices located in Montgomeryville, Bala Cynwyd, and Bensalem, PA.

Why Dentists Recommend Implant-Supported Dentures

Although implant-supported dentures are not suitable for everyone, we typically recommend the treatment for those who qualify. They provide several important benefits that make them well worth the investment.

While traditional dentures can slip out of place and cause embarrassing moments, implant-supported dentures are securely attached to your implants. Whether you are blowing out your birthday candles or enjoying a tough steak, your implant-supported dentures will stay securely in place.

Additionally, dental implants are the only dentistry treatment that prevents bone recession, helping you maintain healthy and youthful-looking facial features. If you are interested in implants, our dentists will coordinate your procedure with a trusted oral surgeon. After you recover, you will return to our Philadelphia-area office to get your custom-made restoration.
