At What Age Should My Child Have An Orthodontic Evaluation? By Kellyn Hodges on December 05, 2014

The dental profession recommends that children be assessed for orthodontic intervention at 7 years of age. This orthodontic evaluation will assess dental development and any problems with health, proper function, or cosmetics of the teeth. Some problems need to be addressed in early childhood while the bones of the mouth are still soft or adult teeth are still coming in. In some cases early detection is key for your child's dental development and life long aesthetics. If there is any question or concern about your young child's bite or smile, an orthodontic consultation is recommended immediately if the child is 7 years or older.
