Periodontal Disease By Kellyn Hodges on March 20, 2015

Many adults suffer from periodontal  disease (otherwise known as gum disease).  This typically  results in bone loss and shifting of the teeth.  Patients in this situation may still seek orthodontic treatment and correction of their smile. They must first see a Periodontist and resolve any current infection and understand that subsequent movement in the teeth can result in tooth loss. However more often than not, when the patient is compliant with all recommendations of their dental team, they can undergo orthodontic care safely and successfully, ultimately achieving the beautiful smile they deserve.
